Daniel Fyffe created, arranged for, and directed the Franklin Central High School Percussion Symphony. The Franklin Central Percussion Symphony is the most influential percussion unit in the history of Winter Guard International indoor percussion competition. Having won seven state titles and six world titles, the Franklin Central Percussion Symphony has set the standard for indoor concert percussion. Besides indoor competition, the Franklin Central Percussion Symphony has performed at the 2002 Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the 2002 Midwest Band and Orchestra Directors International Conference, the 1998, 2000 and 2003 Indiana Music Educators Association State Convention, several Indiana Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion events and on the campus of several universities.
Daniel Fyffe received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Ball State University, his Masters Degree in Music Technology from Indiana University and has complete postgraduate coursework through Indiana University. Daniel was a founding member of the Indiana Percussion Association and has served as Secretary, President, and Past-President. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, the Indiana Music Educators Association and the Indiana State Teachers Association. Daniel serves on the Indiana State School Music Association Percussion Solo & Ensemble Committee.
Daniel Fyffe has organized and presented percussion clinics for Winter Guard International, Columbus Pro Percussion, the Southern
Indiana Percussion is Fun Clinic, Conrad Music, the Indiana Percussion Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association and Great
Lakes Music Camps.
Daniel Fyffe is the author of Indoor Percussion Ensembles and Drum Corps, part of Rosen Publications of New York, New York,
Team Spirit series of books. Daniel has had percussion education articles published on various website and in several hardcopy
publications such as WGI Focus Magazine, WGI Percussion World Finals Yearbook, and School Band and Orchestra Magazine. He
recently completed a history of the first ten years of the Indiana Percussion Association for IPA’s Tenth Anniversary State Program
Book. Daniel’s percussion arrangements are published by drop6 Media of Dallas, Texas and JW3 of Forth Worth, Texas.
Daniel Fyffe is endorsed by Pro-Mark Sticks and Mallets and is the designer/consultant of Pro-Mark’s new line of scholastic mallets,
the Dan Fyffe Series. Daniel is also endorsed by Evans
Drumheads, Dynasty Drums and Sabian Cymbals.
In 1998, Daniel Fyffe received the Ball State University
School of Music Alumni Association Citation for
Achievement. In 2001, he received a service award from the
Indiana Percussion Association. In January 2002, Daniel
received the “Unsung Hero” award from Indianapolis
television station, Fox 59.
Throughout his life, Daniel has studied with a number of
outstanding instructors including Richard Paul of the Paul-
Mueller Percussion Studio of Indianapolis, Dr. Erwin Mueller
of Ball State University, Gary Bannister of the Paul-Mueller
Percussion Studio, Jim Campbell of the Guardsmen Drum and
Bugle Corps, and John Hill of Butler University.
